Lay-Buy Terms & Conditions

At James & Irisa, we offer a flexible Lay-Buy option to help you secure the jewellery you love while giving you full control over your payment schedule. This service is available online only and applies to ready-to-ship and made-to-order pieces. Bespoke items follow a separate policy with custom design milestones and payment arrangements.

1. Eligibility & Deposit

Minimum Spend & Initial Payment
  • Lay-Buy is available for online purchases of AU$1,000 or more.

  • A minimum deposit of 30% is required to initiate the Lay-Buy agreement.

  • Once the deposit is received and the payment schedule is agreed upon in writing (via email), your Lay-Buy will be confirmed.

2. Flexible Payment Structure

Your Instalment Schedule
  • The total balance must be paid in full within 8 weeks from the date of deposit.

  • You may divide the remaining balance in any way that suits your budget, such as:

    • Fortnightly instalments,

    • Irregular amounts as needed,

    • One or more payments at your own pace.

  • There is no fixed instalment frequency, but the payment schedule must be confirmed in advance so we can track progress and reserve your item accordingly.

  • The full amount must be received by the end of the 8-week term.

  • If you require a longer payment term (up to 12 weeks), please contact us before placing your order to discuss a tailored arrangement.

3. Accepted Payment Methods

How You Can Pay

We accept the following payment methods for Lay-Buy orders:

  • Credit or debit card (via secure payment links),

  • Bank transfer.

Important: Lay-Buy payments cannot be made using Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services, including Afterpay, Zip Pay, Klarna, or any similar platforms. These services are not compatible with our Lay-Buy structure.

4. Online-Only Service

Digital Management Only
  • Lay-Buy is available exclusively through our online store.

  • All communication, agreements, and payment processing are handled securely via email and digital payment links.

5. What’s Included

Eligible Jewellery Items

This Lay-Buy policy applies to:

  • Ready-to-ship jewellery, and

  • Made-to-order pieces selected from our current online collection.

Bespoke jewellery is not eligible for Lay-Buy and follows a separate custom policy including design approvals, deposits, and production milestones.

6. Production Timing for Made-to-Order Items

When Production Begins
  • Our made-to-order pieces require approximately 3–4 weeks for production.

  • To ensure alignment with the 8-week Lay-Buy term, production will begin once:

    • At least 50% of the total purchase price has been paid,

    • Or at a point agreed in writing that ensures on-time delivery after the final payment.

Once production has commenced, the order is considered final and cannot be cancelled or changed, unless required under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Ownership & Delivery

Dispatch & Transfer of Ownership
  • All items remain the property of James & Irisa Jewellery until full payment is received.

  • Upon full payment:

    • Ready-to-ship pieces will be dispatched within 3 business days.

    • Made-to-order pieces will be delivered based on their confirmed production timeline.

8. Cancellation & Refunds

If You Cancel:
  • You may cancel your Lay-Buy at any time before the final payment is made.

  • A 10% cancellation fee (of the total purchase value) will apply to cover administrative, handling, and storage costs.

  • The remaining balance paid will be refunded to you.

  • Made-to-order items cannot be cancelled once production has commenced.

If We Cancel:
  • We reserve the right to cancel the Lay-Buy if:

    • No payment is received for more than 14 days past the agreed schedule, and

    • You fail to respond to communication attempts.

  • A 10% cancellation fee will apply, and any remaining balance will be refunded, unless otherwise required under Australian Consumer Law.

9. Returns & Exchanges

Change-of-Mind Policy
  • Once paid in full and delivered, our standard online returns policy applies.

  • Made-to-order jewellery is considered final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged for change-of-mind reasons.

10. Your Consumer Rights

These terms are provided in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law, which guarantees your rights relating to product quality, suitability, and fair treatment. Nothing in this policy excludes or overrides your statutory rights.

11. Important Disclaimer

This Lay-Buy policy applies only to manual Lay-Buy agreements arranged directly with James & Irisa Jewellery.
It does not apply to purchases made via third-party Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services, such as Afterpay, Zip Pay, or Klarna. Those services are governed by their own terms, and full payment is received by us at the time of checkout.
